Happy Skincare was born in 2010 from the unlikely origins of a husband tinkering in the kitchen trying to create a stretch-mark cream for his wife’s pregnant belly. What he created was destined for far greater things than stretchmarks and soon became (after much consultation with a range of experts) Happy Skincare’s original product – the Anti-Ageing and Repair Cream!
That husband was Aaron, the wife Phoebe, and that pregnant belly soon became Corbin. Together we make up the Happy Skincare family.
For us, getting into the skincare industry initially seemed a bit random – with Aaron being an ex-Australian Navy officer and Phoebe a software engineer, but the more we tinkered, learned, and explored, the more obvious it became that we needed to help others understand the importance of putting only high quality ingredients onto your skin.
We are both long-time sufferers of skin problems – Aaron’s chronic Eczema (due to a dairy allergy) and very fair skin (diagnosed with skin cancers at age 19) have both been constant concerns, and Phoebe has battled acne since puberty. Needless to say, we have both used LOTS of skincare products over the years.
More and more of us are becoming aware of what we eat in terms of avoiding synthetic ingredients, and this awareness should also apply to your skincare. The skin is the largest organ in your body and absorbs approximately 60% of the chemicals it touches.
It is so important to minimise the chemicals that you and your family are exposed to because (without wanting to sound extremist here!) the consequences can be dire. Chemicals that are found in skincare and household products can range in effects from causing eczema, premature ageing, fertility problems, and even cancer.
What you mightn’t realise is that the Australian cosmetics industry doesn’t stop companies from putting potentially nasty ingredients into skincare products. It’s up to you to either educate yourself about every ingredient you’re using (you come into contact with hundreds every day!), or find a skincare company you trust and let them do all that hard work.
We just about drove our biochemists bonkers when developing our Anti-Ageing and Repair Cream with our demands for only the highest quality natural ingredients, and while we develop more and more new products, we’ll continue to demand that same high quality.
