Deodorant vs Antiperspirant - “Let’s get ready to ruuuuumble!"

The atmosphere is electric. Can you feel the tension?

In the red corner we have the big corporation, aluminium based, supermarket favourite and current market champion: Iceman the Antiperspirant.

In the green corner we have the small business, aluminium free, health store favourite and number one challenger Maverick the Woohoo All Natural Deodorant Paste.

Deodorants and antiperspirants are often confused as the same thing but there are some pretty big differences.

Antiperspirants “Iceman” - Current market #1 and arrogant

These bad boys dominate the supermarket shelves through 3 major players. There are numerous brands like Dove, Nivea, Mitchum, Rexona, Lynx, Impulse and Brut but they nearly all run by 3 companies - Unilever, Proctor and Gamble and Beiersdorf.

Antiperspirants change the way your body works. They use aluminium to act as plug to stop the sweat coming out. Because they change the way we function, they’re classed as Therapeutic Product and fall under the same regulations as other drugs and medications (in Australia). It’s a similar story in other countries.

They then have deodorising and anti-bacterial ingredients added to prevent body odour. These extra ingredients are needed because antiperspirants only stop 20-50% of sweat.

Deodorants “Maverick” – A cheeky underdog pushing the limits

Deodorants only focus on stopping B.O. and DON’T change your body’s normal function of sweating (so they’re not classed as therapeutic products).

They’re not the new kids on the block but in the past they had a bad rap because they weren’t very good. “Wet, sticky mess” ring a bell?

Luckily there’s a new breed of deodorant – like the Woohoo All Natural Deodorant Paste - that’s raising the bar. So that you can raise your arms :)

They work by using odor absorbing ingredients like bicarb soda, arrowroot powder, cornstarch or clay. These powder puppies also soak up wetness so they can give similar protection as a antiperspirant. They also have anti bacterial oils that not only smell amazing but keep the smelly bacteria at bay.

A good deodorant is natural, it’s healthy, and it WORKS. They are poised to take the world title from antiperspirants.

But before deodorants can take the world title, they need more people to shift their perception about how you apply a deodorant…. Roll-ons, sprays and sticks are NOT the only way.

Don’t be weirded out by this announcement, but: You can rub a deodorant into your armpits with your fingers too. It’s true.

Rubbing a balm under your arms is no different to rubbing cream on your legs!

We’re already feeling the shift. Woohoo is causing some rumbles. So let’s keep doing this together and make Woohoo deodorant the people’s champion.

P.S. Did we mention that the Woohoo All Natural Deodorant Paste was named the BEST NATURAL DEODORANT of 2017 by Nature and Health Magazine? :)
